(MT)2 Annual Conference- Math for All Seasons

The theme says it all.  We have sessions to appeal to the pre-service teacher all the way to the "I am thinking about retiring but can't yet" teacher.  It will be held at Pope John Paul II high school on February 23, 2019.  Registration is now online and payment may be made online or by mail as in the past. Make your plans to attend now!!!

Math Contests for grades 3-8

Do you have students who love to compete?  Perennial Math hosts live tournaments for grades 3-8 around the nation. All winners qualify for the National Championship in May.

Scholarship Deadline Approaching!!

Do you mentor preservice middle or high school mathematics teachers?  Do you know a preservice middle/high school math teacher getting ready for Residency?  Encourage them to apply for theMTMT Scholarship!  The (MT)2 scholarship supports students in their senior year (during Residency) by providing $1,000 that they may use for tuition living expenses, classroom materials or whatever they need during that Residency year.  Applications are due November 15 and April 15 each year.  Forms are available at the link below.

TMTA State Conference Wrap-up

Melissa Haun was the guest speaker.  She gave updates on the status of TN Math standards and testing.  New Test items are scheduled to be released Nov 1, 2018. Instructional Focus documents will be on the website in Dec 2018 or Jan 2019.  We can also expect PLC Guides in Spring 2019.  STEM modules will be posted in the Spring of 2019.  Contact her at Melissa.Haun@tn.gov
